My Friend Jay
Went to a beautiful memorial service for my dear friend Jackie Lachina last Friday. Jackie is my best friend and music partner Michael Lachina's Mother. Jackie's (actually Jay to me) husband Mario and children Michael, Cindy and Jami organized this beautiful memorial service at Crosswinds Church in Dublin Ca. The service featured all four Grandchildren giving beautiful acknowledgements to their Grandmother and Michael performed a new selection off his new CD First Snow/Night Sky, called Greatest Love, a song in which I had the pleasure of writing the lyrics to. The whole day was filled with fond memories of Jay and how much we all love her. Jay I will miss you until the day I meet up with you in heaven and that wonderful laugh of your's will always fill my heart with joy.

In The Studio
Spent time in the studio mixing down a new song "You're Love Broke Through" one of the cuts on my new CD "The Better Part Of Me" coming out this spring. I actually wrote this song in 1994 up in the mountains of Arnold California. It was one of 30 songs I wrote in a 3 month period. My good friend Lyle Wing loves this song and has been encouraging me to record it for 15 years. Well Lyle it''s finally done my friend and it's comin to you soon on the new CD.
Welcome To Lenny Campbell Music
Welcome to the new Lenny Campbell Music Blog.
Lenny Campbell has been a singer/songwriter, recording artist, record producer and owner of AspengloRecords for over 45 years.
Lenny grew up in the east bay town of Hayward California. On Lenny's 10th birthday his parents graciously gave him the gift of a lifetime, his first guitar. From the moment Lenny picked up his guitar for the first time, little did he know it would forge a 45 year bond and become his passion in life.
Lenny began writing music in 1967 when he was just 14 years old. Influenced by many of the music legends of the 60's and 70's such as, The Moody Blues, Dan Fogelberg, Justin Hayward, Gordon lightfoot, Jim Croce, The Eagles, America and now such artists as Lifehouse, Vertical Horizon, The Goo Goo Dolls, Kutless, Bebo Norman, Jake Armerding, Ade Carr, Ari Hest, Donnie Mills, Jennifer Johnson Campbell, Erik Johnson and The Trip. Lenny began carving his blend of acoustic folk pop music that would continue to be his style to this day.
In 1971 Lenny met his now good friend and long time music associate Michael Lachina. Michael a pianist and key board extraordinaire has been Lenny's musical partner and friend for 40 years. Lenny and Mike both toured together in 1979 to promote Lenny's first album "I'm A Believer," a contemporary gospel effort that was part of the ground breaking sound that helped pioneer the contemporary gospel music movement. Three albums would follow "Genuine Love", "Down The Gospel Road" and "Where Living Waters Flow". Lenny and Mike continued to tour until 1986 and then Lenny and wife Kathy packed and moved to the central valley.
Lenny started his own record label Aspenglo Records in 1998 in which his elder daughter Jennifer Johnson Campbell became the first recording artist to release a CD with her group Make Believe on the label. Make Believe released their first 3 song single Cd in 1999. A year later Jennifer released her first solo CD "Shake My World" which was written and produced by Lenny. In 2002, Jennifer moved to southern California to pursue her music career and released her self penned CD "Natural Narcotic."
Lenny released his contemporary gospel CD "Breathing In Eternity" in 2003, his first effort in 17 years. Lenny followed that project up in 2008 with the folk pop CD "Songs From Moon Shadow". After 26 years Lenny rejoined his partner Michael Lachina, in 2009. The music duo penned and produced "Wind On The Water". Michael had a storehouse full of beautiful piano music so Lenny produced Michael's first solo CD "First Snow / Night Sky" released in January 2011.
Lenny's never ending desire to write and create songs from the heart filled with passion, personal experiences and emotion continues to this day. Lenny is currently in the studio working on his next solo CD "The Better Part Of Me" which will release in the Spring of 2011.
"Music is all I have ever known and my guitar has been a life long friend." With new adventures and journey's ahead, Lenny and his wife Kathy will be leaving the Central Valley after 25 years and pulling up stakes in Southern California. Lenny says "I'm trading in the foothills and mountains of Northern California for the beaches and sunsets of Southern California. It will be a joy to be reunited with my daughter Jennifer and now Son-in-Law Erik and Granddaughter Abbey."
To all of you who have supported and been a part of the Lenny Campbell music journey, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish you all God's peace and blessings in abundance. God Bless You All.
